Jerry and Jim were born to Bill and Sallie Jones. They were healthy babes and were blest with good parents and a comfortable home. Their parents were conscientious and did their best to provide their sons the kind of moral and spiritual training that would prepare them for a successful life. Both boys were of average intelligence. In their first few years of school they performed as you would expect twins to do.

By the time the twins reached junior high, their story took a different turn. Jerry was obedient at home and serious about school. He loved going to church with his parents and tried hard to get along with others. Jim, on the other hand, changed. He was surly and disobedient at home. His school grades plummeted. He seemed at war with those around him and was involved in several fights. He lost all interest in learning and refused to study.

Jerry got a job delivering newspapers. Jim was caught stealing. Jerry graduated and went to college. Jim dropped out of school when he was 16. Jerry finished college and got a job with a local business. He then got married and in time he and wife had two children. Appreciating his talent and hard work, his employer soon promoted him and in time became a manager.

When he was 17, Jim was arrested on drug charges. While on probation he got a job at the junk yard. He and his girlfriend soon had a child...later another. They rented a apartment in government housing. Jim was bitter. When he smarted-off against his boss he was fired. He complained that no one would give him a chance. He resented his brother’s success and prosperity. He and family were dressed poorly. The kids got their breakfast and lunch at their school. He drove an old clunker. Jim was angry that Jerry would not share his wealth with him. After all they were kindred. He obviously had a need. Jerry did not need all that money that he had in the bank! He thought the government should do something about his situation.

This story of Jerry and Jim was so compelling that it was turned into a documentary. You can see it each day on the evening news.
