Isn’t It Strange?

As we view the prevailing thinking in 21st century America we observe shocking discrimination and bias towards Christians. Perhaps you have noticed the following. In the mind of the worldly, secular spokesperson:

• Christians must not be allowed to influence public policy issues, but secularists can.

• Christians cannot appeal to legislators or courts for that which they believe to be important for society. That is violating the so-called separation of church and state rule. But secularists can do this.

• Christians would be intolerant if they filed law suites against secularists, but it acceptable for secularists to file endless law suites against Christians. This is done to intimidate them and force them to yield to secularist demands.

• Christians should not be allowed access to public funds for their benevolent or social programs, but secularists can. It is not that true Christians want government money, but we do see this attitude prevailing.

• Christians can be publicly bashed and denigrated by secularists and its is considered OK. But Christians are said to be intolerant and mean-spirited if they speak critically of secularists.

• Christians can be told by secularists to stay inside their buildings and preach only to each other and that is not considered rude and intolerant. But should a Christian tell the secularist to do that he would be accused of infringing on his freedom of speech.

• Christians can be harassed and persecuted in far nations and nothing is said or done by secularists. However if one sharing their secular views is persecuted, secularists demand action to protect them.

• Secularists have the right to publicly criticize behavior they think is improper, but they do not think Christians should have that right.

• If Christian leaders should blunder and engage in some embarrassing action, no amount of apology and confession will suffice for the secularists. They will seek to drive him from his post. But if a secularist does the same, he immediately is forgiven and his secularist tribe will rush to defend him or her and keep them in their office

• When Christians condemn that which the Bible declares to be sin, they are branded as judgmental, hate-mongers and cruel. If secularists condemn Christians on the basis of their secular faith, they are not blamed, criticized or scolded. In fact they will be applauded by their peers.

• When secularists dominate institutions and government they call it democracy and freedom. When Christians have dominance in an institution they call it tyranny, oppressive, a violation or church and state or something!

• When a history book tells the beneficial role Christianity has played, it is discounted as tainted. When secularists intentionally ignore the role of Christianity and exalt secularism they are praised as unbiased.

The above points are remarkable since among committed secularists "tolerance" is one of their most used words. But observation makes it clear that the tolerance they want is for themselves alone.
