Have you ever consider "What was the most important day of your life? For Christians there are several days of great significance. Some of them occurred long before we were born, some are yet to come.

There was the day that Christ died on the cross. That was the day when the offering was made for my sin (I Cor. 15:3; Heb. 9:14). On that day he suffered the punishment due to me for my transgressions.

There was the glorious day when He was resurrected from the grave. It was on the first day of the week (Mark 16:1-6). That was the day when death was conquered (Heb. 2:13-15). It guaranteed that He would one day raise me and all other human beings from the tomb (John 5:28-29).

There was the wonderful day when, before his Apostles, he ascended back into heaven to take his seat at God's right hand and assume his reign over his church/kingdom (Acts 1:9-10; 2:33).

There was the Day of Pentecost (a Sunday) when the Holy Spirit began his ministry among God's people (Acts 2:1-4). He guided the Apostles into all the truth (John 16:13). He led them in opening the doors of the kingdom of heaven and thus launched the church upon the great sea of humanity (Acts 2:36-47). He revealed in clear terms what I needed to know in order to be saved (Acts 2:38). These things all occurred long before I was born, yet they are extremely important in my life.

Then there was the day Jesus saved me from my sins. On that day my faith had grown to the point that I was compelled to confess him as God's Son before my friends (Rom. 10:9-10). On that day I died to sin and was buried in baptism with Christ my savior (Rom. 6:1-4). When I was raised from that watery grave, I began my new life in Christ as a Christian (Rom. 6:4-5; Acts 11:26). On that day a wonderful work was done in my life. All my past sins were washed away by the merits of Christ's shed blood (Acts 22:16; I John 1:7-8). God gave me His Holy Spirit as the seal and assurance of my salvation (Acts 2:38; II Cor. 1:22) and He made of me a "new creature" (II Cor. 5:17) transformed into the moral and spiritual likeness of Jesus (II Cor. 3:18; Col. 3:10).

A day will come when I will complete my life on earth. If that should occur before the Lord returns my lifeless body will be placed in a tomb and my spirit will be carried away to Abraham's bosom. There I will wait in peaceful repose until that thrilling day when "The Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (I Thess. 4:16-17).

Last will be the day when I along with all the saved of all the age will be welcomed into the great city of God that we know as heaven. It is called "new Jerusalem" and there will live forever in the presence of God himself. He will wipe away every tear, their will be no pain, no more death nor mourning. In this new heavens and new earth all things will be made new (Rev. 21:2-5). There as in Eden will have free access to the tree of life and the water of life. Immortality will be ours. The curse once pronounce on our race will be lifted. We will serve our God forever with joyful and thankful hearts (Rev. 22:1-5). For this blessed day we have served our Lord Jesus!
